Carol M. Sieg, age 82, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010.
Family will greet friends from 4-6:00PM with a prayer service at 6PM Friday, 2/12/10, at the Miller West Funeral Chapel, Sioux Falls. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls on Saturday, 2/13/10 at 2:00PM.
Carol Margaret Swanson was born August 17, 1927 in Big Lake, MN. She grew up in Big Lake where she received her education. On July 5, 1945, she married Arthur Sieg. Their marriage was blessed with four children, two daughters – Carol and Hope, and two sons -- Warren and Tim. Carol enjoyed a variety of occupations during her lifetime including real estate sales in Minneapolis and Sioux Falls; and 16 years working at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport as a security supervisor.
Carol was honored to serve on the Minnehaha County Conservation Board for 20 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of the SDSU research farm, president of both her Garden Club and the Sioux Falls Welcome Wagon, superintendent of the Horticulture Building of the Sioux Empire Fair, and member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was active in the Dorcus Circle.
Carol had a passion for flowers, gardening and pie baking. She also enjoyed playing board games and cards with her family and many friends.
She is survived by daughters, Carol (Joe) Smith of Sioux Falls; Hope (Richard) LaVine of Elk River, MN; sons, Warren (Sandra) Sieg of Sioux Falls; Tim (Teri) Sieg of Eaton, CO; grandchildren Scott, Jeremy and Ross Smith; Shane, Brent and Kevin LaVine; Travis, Kellen and Landon Sieg; Tyler, Trent and Tarynn Sieg; great grandchildren Sabrina, Tanner and Carson Smith; Alexandra, Sarah, Emily and Nicholas LaVine; brothers, Ronald, Loren, Roger, Willard, and Gary; sisters, LaVonne and Kathleen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband Arthur, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
