Raymond James Buthe of Sioux Falls went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the age of 72 years. Raymond had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, in Sioux Falls.
Services for Raymond J. Buthe will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Visitation will be on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 5-7:00 PM with a Liturgical Wake Service starting at 7:00pm, at Miller West Funeral Chapel.
Ray was born in 1937 in rural Carthage, SD. His parents, Mary (Harings) and Henry Buthe enjoyed raising Ray and his four brothers and one sister.
After attending and graduating from the Argonne Consolidated Schools, Raymond joined the U.S. Army in 1960. A few years later, he was Honorably Discharged and Ray returned to Sioux Falls, and started working for Zip Feed Mills. After several years, Raymond transferred to the Huron Plant as a manager.
Ray retired at an early age, but returned to Sioux Falls and started working part-time at the Augustana College Post Office. He really enjoyed being around the students and the activities of the college.
Some of Raymond's interests included most sporting activities like hunting and fishing. Ray would attend many athletic events of his nieces , nephews, and college students, as time would allow. He also enjoyed camping and especially being outdoors with his family and friends.
Raymond will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Ray is survived by his sister Stella Swanson of Rapid City, SD, and brothers Ralph of Howard, SD, and Kenneth (Ula Mae) Buthe of Dell Rapids, SD. and one sister-in law Sue Buthe of St. Charles, IL.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clem and Henry Jr, sisters-in-law Maxine and Edna, and one brother-in-law Leonard.
The family of Raymond suggest all memororializations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Muscular Sclerosis Society.
