Heyemena 'Minn' Erickson, 83, died March 9, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village.

Heyemena 'Minn' (Schmidt) Erickson was born December 30, 1926, in Lennox, SD, to John and Bertha (Jurgens) Schmidt. As a teen, Minn moved to Hartford, SD with her family, where she attended public school.

She was united in marriage with John Erickson on July 20, 1946, in Portland, OR. The couple returned to Sioux Falls in 1948. Minn became a homemaker and loving mother to their children. Later in life, Minn became employed with Anderson's Cafe and in 1970, began working at Rentchler's Cafe where she was a pie baker. John preceded her in death on May 29, 1990. Minn retired in 1992.

In her free time, she enjoyed working with her hands doing craft work, crocheting, and making ceramics. In younger years, the family enjoyed taking fishing and picnic trips to area lakes on weekends. In the center of Minn's life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them and cherished spending time with them and playing board games. Known for her baking talents, she will be remembered for the assortment of delicious pies and cookies she made by hand.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Danny Erickson (Kimberle), Sioux Falls, SD, Allan Erickson (Ann), Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Linda Fontenot (Dennis), Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertie Vanderhoff , Hartford, SD, and Florence Lueth (Kenneth), Sioux Falls, SD. In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by sons, Wayne, Warren and Curtis; sisters, Sophia Hunter, Nancy Rubel, Bertha Schmidt, Johanna Schmidt, Beverly Bornitz, Margaret Jensen, Jane Gott; and her brothers, Harm, John, Orville and Frederick.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue, with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitaiton begins at 1:00 pm Thursday, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Thursday evening.
