Alice Marian Schroeder passed away on June 9th 2025 at Avas House in Sioux Falls SD, surrounded by family. Alice was 89 years old.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Monday, June 16 at Miller Funeral Home Westside, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Huron, SD.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday June 15, at Miller Funeral Home Westside.
Alice was born on January 25th 1936 in Wessington SD to Fred and Rosine Woelpert. She was the 2nd of 4 girls. Alice was raised on a farm and attended country school in Beadle County, then graduated from Virgil High school in 1954. She married Dean Schroeder in 1958 and had 2 children, Steven and Tamara.
Through the course of her life, she was active in several things. From raising 2 children and attending their school and sporting events. Working in the banking industry right out of high school until she retired from US Bank in 2001 in Aberdeen. League Bowling with girls on Wednesday night. She was also known as the stamp lady in the Aberdeen schools as she would encourage students to buy US savings bond stamps. An avid gardener, her lawn, garden, and flowers (the farmer in her) were always weed free, and in the fall, she could be found canning the produce from her garden.
Alice loved to travel. Taking many trips to different places around the US and the world. During basketball season she could be found in stands cheering on the Northern State Wolves. In 2010 Alice moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her kids and grand-kids. Later in life she enjoyed putting together puzzles and playing cards at the Good Samaritan Lodge. Alice cherished the time spent with her grandsons and her great grandchildren and watching them grow into young adults.
Alice is survived by her sisters Sandra (Clark) Van De Walle, Judy (Ben) Boetel, sister in-law Connie Schroeder. Children: Steven (Denise) Schroeder, Tamara Schroeder. Grandchildren: Kris (Amber) Schroeder, Jason Schroeder. Great Grandchildren Gavin Schroeder, Alexus and Samantha Foster, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, several uncles and aunt, sister Mary Winter and her husband Vernon, brother in-law Richard Hagerty
