Angela Bruce, 87, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Avantara Norton Rehabilitation Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home - Downtown Chapel (507 S. Main Ave. Sioux Falls, SD.)

Angela Christine Bruce was born April 10, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa to Manfred & Christine (Dahlin) Max. She had two brothers, Manford & Wayne as well as two sisters, Shirley and Roberta. Her father owned an accordion shop and Angela had such a love & fondness for her upbringing.

After high school Angela moved to Denver, CO where she lived with her 2 dear friends, Miriam and Carol. She worked as a secretary and enjoyed experiencing life on her own. Angela will always be remembered and respected for her purity and innocence.

In 1960, Angela married Harold Bruce and the couple returned to Sioux City. They had 5 children: Dan, Cathy, Rich, Kajsa & Karen, along with two miscarriages. Angela always worked hard to maintain her rambunctious family. She made sure her children attended Sunday school every week and established a deep respect for God in each of them. She enjoyed baking and watching all the oldies especially Lawrence Welk with a bowl of popcorn. It was her way of relaxing. She also enjoyed a cup of coffee and chatting. Never did she ever turn down a dessert!

After the death of her husband and son Rich, Angela moved to Sioux Falls to be near her daughter. With time, Angela adjusted to meeting many new people and returning to church. In October 2019, Angela moved to Edgewood Memory Care. This difficult decision ended up bringing her countless joys. The residents and staff became her extended family. Angela helped start a church service and everyone loved singing the old hymns and listening to God's Word. It always brought hope to these precious believers.

In time Angela had to leave because her level of care increased. It was so difficult to say goodbye, but again God continued to have His Loving Hand upon her life. She quickly made new friends at Avantra and got involved in bible studies led by volunteers from King of Glory Church. This church also leads weekly Bingo which helps bring many residents together for fun & prizes! Angela again helped start a new church service on Sunday mornings. The residents now could come and be strengthened by God's Word. Some even learning the Gospel message for the first time!  Angela's room was designated as 'The Fun & Faith Room.' There, Angela and her sweet roommate Lenore spent many hours chatting, doing hair, watching videos, listening to music, and having devotion and prayers. We would invite others to squeeze into their joyfully compact room as well.

Almost every Saturday night, Angela's favorite grandchild, Zachary (wink, wink) would have dinner with her & then do a Bible study in her Fun & Faith room along with Lenore. We received countless compliments on his consistent loving kindness! Wherever Angela went, the Lord faithfully cared for all her needs. She was blessed with many thoughtful caregivers: CNAs, nurses, housekeepers, kitchen staff, activity directors, social workers, laundry workers, accountants, and the friendly face that always welcomes everyone at the front door, Jamie! Angela and many residents also enjoyed visits from our little Pumpkins, the sweet little children from our Swahili church. We also want to thank St Croix Hospice for their services as well!

Angela will be missed by many, but we are rejoicing she is now with her Savior Jesus Christ and finally set free from her worn-out body! The Bible teaches for a believer to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!

In lieu of flowers, please consider volunteering in a care facility. The needs are enormous but the rewards are priceless!

Angela is survived by her children, Dan (Rhonda) Bruce of Virginia, Iowa, Cathy (Don) Mitchell of Renner, SD, and Kajsa Wengert of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kayley, Matt & Emily Bruce; Zachary (Debby) and Nick Mitchell; Brandi (Zach) Smith; and Allee & Annee Wengert.
