Anna M.
Faust
Nov 2, 1932 — Feb 27, 2025
Canton
Anna M. Faust, age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Canton, South Dakota. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church (2109 S. 5th Ave., Sioux Falls, SD) with interment to follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
Anna Marie Donnelly was born on November 2, 1932 in Yankton, South Dakota to John Leo and Margaret (Hodgins) Donnelly. She attended Sacred Heart School in Yankton, SD. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Sioux Falls, SD in 1948.
She married James Faust at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She and Jim met in high school. They had four children Timothy, Mark, Brian, and Mary Anna. They settled in California where she worked for Sun-Maid for 20 years. Many of her years of retirement were spent in service to her family and friends who were in need of assistance and care for periods of time in their life. In August 2021 she landed in Chicago to help her sister-in-law Mary Jo after surgery. Anna loved the city life so much she ended up getting her own apartment, where she and Mary Jo enjoyed each other's company. Anna loved walking to the park, dining out, talking about family, reading, and drinking week-old coffee. Anna brought a lot of joy to the residents of Morningside South; no one was a stranger to her. Although she was brought to Canton to live her final months with her niece, Anna's heart never left Chicago.
She was able to travel to Ireland which was her most memorable and cherished trip. Anna LOVED HER FAITH and IRISH HERITAGE. Every place she lived, the local parish was always a first stop for her.
Grateful for having shared her life were her sons, Timothy, Brian, and Mark; her daughter, Mary Anna; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Skaff-Donnelly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy and Mark; her parents, Margaret and John; and her siblings, Mary, Pat, John, Margaret, Catherine, Joe, Jim, Peter, Paul, Tom, Jerry, Bobby, and Monica. Anna is the last of John and Margaret Donnelly's 14 children to pass into the Eternal Reward. May their souls, and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
