Ashton Acosta passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his home in Sioux Falls. He was 24.

Ashton was born on 11/07/2000 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Sarah Farr and Josh Acosta. He attended Sioux Falls public schools and received his G.E.D.

In 2016, he met Makayla Bennett, and they married in 2021. Their son Elliot was born on October 4th of that same year. Although their marriage did not last, they remained best friends. He met Chasity (Carson) Wentzelshowers in October 2022, and their child is due at the end of September.

Ashton loved to fish and fix anything and everything. He was a jack of all trades, master of none. He worked in a little of everything, from a mechanic, HVAC, a C.O. at the prison to a GM at 2 competing pizza chains (he loved the irony). Ashton loved his crafts and was always excited to making you something personal. He had such a huge heart and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.

Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Sarah Farr (Ivan Davila); father, Josh Acosta (Billy-Jo Gibson); son, Elliot Acosta; brother, Dani Welu (Taylor Moore); sister, Jaz Acosta; step-brother, Marcus Chapin (Cierra Dirkson-Chapin); fiance, Chasity WentzelShowers (Carson); and best friend, Makayla Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eddie Schmidt, Peggy (Farr), and Steve Brady; and his paternal grandmother, Cindy McDaniels.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday 04/19/25 at 3 pm at Sertoma Park, 4300 Oxbow Ave. Sioux Falls, SD 57106.
