Audrey M. Matthews of Sioux Falls, SD, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her home in Surprise, AZ. Audrey was 95 years old.

Born on February 5, 1931, Audrey Mae DeVries was raised in Ireton, Iowa, by her parents, William and Ida (Bleyenberg) DeVries. Her family moved to Maurice, IA, for about two years before settling in Alton, IA. Audrey attended public school and graduated from Alton High School in 1949.

On October 14, 1955, Audrey married Donald Matthews in Alton, IA. The couple then moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where they raised their two sons, Dennis and Mark. Audrey worked as a manager at McDonald's for 28 years, notably becoming the first female manager at the Sioux Falls location.

Don and Audrey enjoyed traveling and spent their winters in Arizona. Audrey recently relocated to Surprise, AZ, to be with her son.

Audrey is survived by her sons, Dennis (Gloria) Matthews of Hartford, SD, and Mark (Tammy) Matthews of Surprise, AZ. She is also survived by her brother, Glen DeVries of Pipestone, MN; her grandson, Michael Matthews; her granddaughter, Megan (Kyle) Konrad; and five great-grandchildren.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida DeVries; her sister, Geraldine; her daughter-in-law, Diane; and her husband, Donald Matthews.

Audrey will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Donald Matthews, at the Bon Homme Cemetery, Springfield, South Dakota.
