Aurora Roff, 97 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the Avantara Nursing Home.

The family will be having a Memorial Mass at 2 pm Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2 pm at The Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Aurora Marie Roff was born October 23rd, 1928 in San Pedro, CA to Constantino and Elodia Medina. She was born and raised in San Pedro with her two brothers, Tino and Paul. Upon graduating high school she spent 4 years as a nun at Corpus Christi Monastery in California. Upon leaving she went to a Catholic nursing school in California. After completing her nursing degree she began her career working at USO, United Service Organization, as a nurse tending to wounded soldiers. One day a handsome man showed up, bought her pastry and coffee and continued to do so every day for 3 months until she agreed to begin dating him. This handsome man, James Woodrow Roff, would two years later become her husband. They were married in Harbor City, CA, and to this marriage 3 daughters were born, Loretta, Francesca, Jamie and they lost one son to miscarriage. Upon being married James and Aurora raised their child between Long Beach and Costa Mesa, CA. She worked for 60 years as a nurse in California helping deliver babies, caring for mentally challenged children and eventually ending her career in leadership as a nurse manager. She can be described as a hard worker, caring, funny and a "firecracker". She loved her faith and lived it out as head of the Catholic Daughters as well as helping cook for the priests at St. Joachim Parish in Costa Mesa, CA. She was very proud of her Godson, Frank Wilder, who would go on to become Father Frank.

Aurora is survived by her children Loretta, Francesca (Charles), and Jamie as well as her grandchildren Andrew Roff, Charlie Roff Von Lubrich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Constantino and Elodia Medina, as well as her husband James Roff.
