Barbara Olson died peacefully on June 24, 2026 at Touchmark at All Saints senior living facility in Sioux Falls, SD.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am , Wednesday, July 8, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Astoria, SD with a lunch to follow.

Barbara was born July 1, 1935, in Watertown, SD to Lillian Peterson. She was raised by Gus and Anna Anderson in Astoria SD. She graduated from Astoria Public High School in 1953. On July 3, 1954, she was united in marriage to Loren Olson. Working as farmers near Astoria, the couple were parents to three children.

Loren Olson died in 1993. In August of 1997 Barbara married Robert Trandem. Barbara loved both of her husbands very much.

Barbara was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Astoria, SD and a former board member of the Hendricks Community Hospital Association.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children Bert Olson, Portland, OR; Jack (Julie) Olson, Owatonna, MN; and Nancy Hanson (Robert Arquette) Washburn, WI. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Peterson, and sister, Linda Goslee. Grandchildren Melissa (Brent) Fair, Luke (Juliana) Olson, Sioux Falls, SD; Angela (Mike) Jahn, Milwaukee, WI; Peter (Amy) Olson, Cold Spring, MN; and Greg Olson, Minneapolis, MN. Great-grandchildren Brea Williams, Amar'e Williams, Gretchen Fair, Jersey Olson, and Rocco Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Loren Olson and Robert Trandem.

Barbara enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, relative, neighbor, and friend. She loved sharing her faith and her humor with many.
