Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our sweet baby boy, Benjamin Arthur Bruscher. He left this world peacefully in his parents' arms on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at just 2 months and 14 days old.

Benjamin, born on May 18, 2026, to Kyle and Emily (Salisbury) Bruscher, brought an immeasurable amount of joy and love into the lives of those around him during his brief time on this earth. Though his life was short, he experienced warmth, gentle cuddles, and the soothing sounds of family voices, surrounded by deep, unconditional love.  With his short time, he displayed immeasurable strength and resilience and taught patience in an impatient world.

While Benjamin knew only the hospital, he had a remarkable spirit. His infectious smile and his delight in listening to his parents and nurses as they talked and sang to him touched everyone who cared for him. With his striking eye contact and expressive eyebrows, he brought joy to his caregivers. He loved bath time, particularly the gentle head massages, and treasured being held close. His favorite companion was a crocheted octopus, which he clung to tightly day and night.

The nursing staff lovingly bestowed him with nicknames like "Benjamin Bubbles," because of his adorable habit of blowing bubbles, and "Ben-nana," as they donned yellow or banana-themed attire every Friday in his honor.

Benjamin is survived by his devoted parents, Kyle and Emily Bruscher of Sioux Falls, along with his maternal grandmother, Lisa Thuringer, and paternal grandparents, Robin Olivier of Sioux Falls and Randy (Teri) Bruscher of Tea, SD. He will be cherished and missed by his uncle, Eric (Ashley) Bruscher of Sioux Falls; aunts, Brittney (Whitney) Salisbury of Sioux Falls and Lindsey (Thomas Sinclair) Bruscher of Sioux Falls; along with his cousins, Rush and Wren Salisbury, Sophia Sinclair, and Emalyn, Quinn, and Eden Bruscher. His furry siblings, Barqy and Pepper, will also feel his absence.

Benjamin was welcomed into heaven by his loving maternal grandad, Charles Salisbury.

In honor of Benjamin's beautiful spirit, a visitation will be held to celebrate his precious life from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
