Bryan James Ahrendt, 40, passed away at his home in Sioux Falls, SD on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by a prayer service at 3:30 on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home (Westside Location) 6200 W. 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 26, 2026 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1600 S. Marion Rd., Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.
Bryan was born March 26, 1985, in Sioux Falls, SD to Randy and Sandi Ahrendt. He attended Sioux Falls Catholic Schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. He graduated from O'Gorman High School in 2003. He graduated from Dakota State University in 2008.
Bryan's love and knowledge of computers led to a career as a computer software engineer. He worked for 44i and most recently Aerostar. In June 2022, Bryan suffered a stroke. He tried so hard to get back to his previous productivity. But by spring of 2023, due to cognitive issues suffered from his stroke along with his mental health issues, he was unable to continue his work as a software engineer.
Bryan enjoyed playing his guitar, hiking, listening to music, playing board games with his brothers, and following the Minnesota Twins. He adored his two nieces and nephew and they adored him. Bryan had a good heart and a kind soul and will be truly missed. A special thank you to all the doctors and medical staff who helped Bryan and to all who kept Bryan in your prayers.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents; Randy and Sandi (Karels) Ahrendt; brothers, Chris (Carol) Ahrendt, and Kevin (Areeba Ikram) Ahrendt; nieces Michelle Ahrendt and Anastasia Ahrendt, nephew Gabriel Ahrendt; grandmother, Doreen Karels; aunts, Denise (Eldon) Planteen, Lisa (Jim) Greene, Michelle (Ken) Newell, Jerilyn (Ron) Harris and uncles Paul (Shari) Karels, Mark Karels (Bernie Angus) and many first cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents; Albert Ahrendt, Laverna Ahrendt, Jim Karels, and uncle; DeWayne Ahrendt.
