Byron Craig Hall, age 87, passed away on July 29, 2026, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Byron was born on June 5, 1939, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Arlo and Mattie (Magnuson) Hall. He attended Sioux Falls public schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1957.
After high school, Byron joined the South Dakota National Guard and later spent time in Los Angeles, where he worked in law enforcement. During those years, he was married and welcomed four children: Todd, Brad, Kristi, and Lori.
In April 1974, Byron was united in marriage to Karla Rolsma in Sioux Falls. Together they made their home in Sioux Falls and were blessed with two children, Aaron and April.
Byron worked for the City of Sioux Falls for 24 years with the Traffic Engineering Department and also served as an animal control officer before retiring. In retirement, he stayed active by working part‑time as a driver for Harold's Photo.
Throughout his life, Byron enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing. In retirement, he developed a passion for woodworking and created many cherished pieces, including furniture, boxes, trivets, and keepsakes.
As he grew older, Byron became deeply interested in his family history. He loved sharing stories, memories, and collected memorabilia with those he loved.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karla; his children, Aaron (Holly) Hall, and April (Dustin) Olson, Brad Hall, Kristi Folske, and Lori (Willie) Chappell; his sister, Geraine Schultz; his brother, Richard (Deborah); his grandchildren; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Mattie Hall; his infant brother, David Hall; and his son, Todd Hall.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD.
