Obituary

Cal Fickbohm. Sioux Falls, SD, passed away April 17, 2020, at the age of 59.

Calvin Edward Fickbohm was born February 22, 1961, in Vermillion, SD, to Vernon and Florence (Siemers) Fickbohm. He was raised in Beresford, SD, where he attended high school, graduating in 1979. After working in Vermillion, SD for a period of time, Cal worked for area farmers.

During the 1980s, Cal moved to Sioux Falls, SD, and attended Southeast Technical Institute. He earned a degree in Computer Science. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sandra Stotts.

On November 1, 1986, Cal and Sandi were married in Murdo, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Cal worked for the City for a period of time before joining Raven Industries as an IT Staff Developer in 1989. He was promoted to Director of Information Technology.

In August 2008, Sandi passed away.  Three years later, Cal stepped back in the position of IT Staff Developer with Raven to allow him to have more time with his family.

Cal was a loyal and devoted family man. His life centered around his family.  As a father, he had always made his children feel loved and well taken care of. Cal and Sandi were faithful members of First Baptist Church, where Cal enjoyed teaching on Wednesday nights when the kids were young. Cal was active on various committees, including the recent pastoral search committee.

He loved taking vacations to Los Angeles, Colorado, Arizona, and particularly enjoyed several trips to St. Pete Beach, Florida with his family. Cal loved family gatherings and always looked forward to holidays with all the relatives.

Blessed with an outgoing and friendly personality, Cal was tremendously generous and loving. His kind and loving spirit will be forever cherished.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Landon Fickbohm, Mason Fickbohm and Jenna Fickbohm, all of Sioux Falls; brother, Curt (Julie) Fickbohm, Vermillion, SD; sisters, Candice (Mark) Merrick, Alcester, SD, Colleen Fickbohm, Vermillion, SD; parents-in-law, Roy and Joyce Stotts of Sioux Falls, SD, and his brother in law, Steve (Kelley) Stotts of Omaha, NE. In addition to Sandi, Cal was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Craig; sister, Caryn; and an infant brother, Vernon, Jr.
