Carol Mae Clauson, age 75 of Rapid City and formerly of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Carol Mae was born November 27, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD, daughter of Herman and Florence Brune. Carol Mae had many fun times throughout her childhood and early adulthood with her sister, Corrine and her brother, Lloyd.

Carol Mae married Delroy "Devon" Clauson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and Devon shared their lives with three children. She and her family were world travelers while Devon was active in the military. They lived in Africa, Germany, Panama, Hawaii and several other military locations. Living in Hawaii was perhaps the best loved experience in the family's lives.

Carol Mae loved the extended stays with her children and grandchildren. Shopping was a real joy with her sister-in-law, Janice. Carol Mae loved God and going to church with friends and relatives. Later in life, she and her sister, Betty enjoyed recollecting the memories she had of her travels. Carol Mae shined with joy when talking about her, Boots and Poppers. Carol will be remembered as a beautiful person inside and outside, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend.

Her funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30-7:00pm on Monday at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue.

Carol Mae is survived by her three children: Hilda, Natalie and Michael; her grandchildren; two sisters, Corrine Casey and Betty (Roger) Wiswell; one brother, Lloyd (Janice) Brune and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its sincerest thanks to There's A Heart Nursing Home and Fountain Springs, Rapid City, SD, for the loving care provided to Carol Mae over the last few years.
