Carol J. Currier of Sioux Falls, SD, peacefully passed away at her home on Lake Lorraine on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the age of 98.

Born on March 5, 1928, Carol Jeanne Benson was the daughter of Roy Melvin and Jennie (Oien) Benson in Sioux Falls. On November 22, 1947, she married Robert H. Currier in Sioux Falls, and they were blessed with a daughter, Karen, and a son, Bruce. In 1964, the family moved to Denver, CO, and in 1978, the couple returned to Sioux Falls. Sadly, Robert passed away in 1988.

Carol loved horses, music, and spending time with her family.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Karen (Robert, Jr.) Chalfant, of Nashville, TN; two granddaughters, Nicole Chalfant of Nashville, TN, and Madeleine (Thomas) Chalfant Hille of Kennett Square, PA; a grandson, James Currier, of Santa Rosa, CA; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ferdinand Thomas Hille and Ophelia Marie Hille. She is also survived by her brother, Olander (Sylvia) Benson, of Brandon, SD.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Cleo Birner and Moreen Maytum; her beloved husband, Robert H. Currier; and her son, Bruce Currier.

A private graveside service will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
