Carol Ann Hansen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home - Southside Chapel (7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD). The family will greet friends for visitation on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, also at the funeral home.

Carol was born on October 30, 1954, in Freeman, South Dakota, to Dowean and Gertrude Ulmer. At the age of 13, her family moved to Irene, South Dakota, where she met the love of her life, Roger Hansen. The two were united in marriage in 1972 and together built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. They raised their five daughters—Sarah, Melissa, Katie, Molly, and Maggie—on their farm west of Irene, where Carol poured her heart into both her family and her home.

Carol found joy in life's simple but meaningful moments. She loved spending time with her family and friends, tending to her garden—especially her beautiful flowers—reading a good book, and sharing lively discussions with her book club. She enjoyed traveling to new places and seeing new sights, but most of all, she cherished being the world's best Grandma. Her dedication to her community was evident in the countless hours she volunteered for many local organizations. Carol's kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dowean Ulmer, and her brother, Ronnie Ulmer. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger; her mother, Gertrude; her daughters, Sarah (Jeff Simpson), Melissa, Katie (Jamie Mallery), Molly (Chad Knutson), and Maggie (Zach Anderson); and her eight treasured grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, Finnegan, Tenley, Carter, Logan, Harper, and Ella.

Carol's love and legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched, and her memory will forever be a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carol's honor may be directed to Saint Francis House or Union Gospel Mission.
