Obituary

Carolyn Anderson, Hartford, SD, passed away with her family by her side, on March 25, 2026, at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD. She was 70.

Visitation for Carolyn will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Miller Hartford Chapel, 600 S. Western Avenue, Hartford, SD. The Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 am, Monday, March 30, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church (West Wall Lake), 26313 462nd Ave., rural Hartford, SD.

Carolyn was born on October 9, 1955, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Morton A. Lueth and Grace (Zacharias) Lueth. She was raised on a farm near the Hartford/Humboldt area, where she developed a deep appreciation for family, community, and the simple joys of life.

She graduated from West Central High School in 1973 and went on to attend Springfield College. Carolyn later completed her education at Augustana University, earning her degree in education—a calling that reflected her caring and patient nature.

Carolyn was married to Michael Anderson in September, 1976. They made their home in Humboldt, SD. Carolyn worked as an education assistant for a period of time and then began teaching at Chester, SD. She retired at the end of the 2020 school year, leaving behind a lasting impact on her school and community.

She enjoyed taking trips with friends to Seattle, Missouri, and particularly cherished a trip to the Black Hills with her son, Eric, in June, 2024.

In her free time, Carolyn liked to crochet, cross-stitch, and tend to her micro-garden tomatoes. She loved music and dancing with the Kickers, with whom she made lifelong friends. She also had a beautiful singing voice.

Giving, patient, and kind, Carolyn had a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcome and cared for. She will be forever treasured and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Eric Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Charles (Linda) Lueth, Humboldt, SD; and sisters-in-law, Marlys Lueth, Sioux Falls, SD, and Connie Lueth of Hartford, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Melvin Lueth, Dale Lueth, and Leroy Lueth.
