Marana

Obituary

Cathie Sather of Marana, AZ, entered her heavenly home on December 29, 2024, after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia.

Cathie was born in Sioux Falls, SD, to Vernon and Barbara Long on March 5, 1949. Cathie was a beloved mother, Grammy/Mimi, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She fiercely loved her husband, Brian, and their 4 sons: Scott, Mike, James, and Eric. Her family was her pride and joy! She would've done anything for her family, and she did! She was affectionately called a domestic engineer by her beloved husband of 53 years. She volunteered for the school PTA throughout the school years of all of her boys.  She attended all of their sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader. After volunteering with the PTA, she became a devoted volunteer with The Teddy Bear Den where she partnered with one of her best friends. She also loved to read and was involved in a few book groups, as well as Bridge Club, with many of her cherished friends. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, and she always took plenty of pictures to commemorate time spent with family and friends. Her grandkids were her world. She was overjoyed and loved being a Grammy/Mimi to Naomi, Julia, Ashley, Michael, Viviana, and Parker.

She is survived by her husband Brian, of Marana, AZ; sons, Scott (wife Jennifer; daughters, Naomi & Julia) of Omaha, NE; Mike (wife Joan; children Ashley & Michael) of Hummelstown, PA; James (children Viviana & Parker) of Oro Valley, AZ; and Eric of Casa Grande, AZ; her mother, Barbara Long; brother, Rick Long (wife Laura); and sister, Deb Cota (husband Mike), all of Sioux Falls, SD, along with her nieces, nephew, & their families. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Long.

Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home Downtown on Friday, January 10 from 5-7 pm with services at First Lutheran Church at 10:30am on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
