Charlene R. Ellington, 89, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 surrounded with love by her family.

Private family memorial service will be Friday, August 29, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with entombment at Hills of Rest Columbarium, Sioux Falls, SD.

Charlene was born September 2, 1935 in San Francisco, CA.  The family resided in North Hollywood, CA.  She graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1953.

Charlene was united in marriage with George Ellington on February 27, 1954.  They moved to Valentine, NE in 1954. While living in Valentine, she had the pleasure of working for the local dentist.  It was a job she truly loved. In 1968, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where they went into partnership with Wonderfour Shoes in the Western Mall for 23 years.  She worked for Budget Optical from 1996 to 1998.  George passed away in 2004.

She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.  Charlene had a love for her dogs her whole life.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Kirk (Elizabeth) Ellington, Sioux Falls, SD, Niki Ellington, Fall City, WA, Alysia "Gigi" (Jim) Iosty, Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one great great grandson;  two siblings, Ronald (Shelia) Dahlquist, Burbank, CA, Winonah Etheridge, Sun Valley, CA; her canine furbaby and best friend, Lefty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a grandson, Eric Ellington; her mother, Winonah Dahlquist; step brothers, Don and Jerry Dahlquist; a step sister, Sue Youngblood.
