Cheryl Haacke, 87, of Indianola IA, passed away June 10, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home (Downtown Location) 507 S. Main Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.

Cheryl  was born on September 8, 1938, to Melvin and Lenora (Bergeson) Anderson, Cheryl lived a life marked by perseverance, service, faith, and love for her family.

Cheryl graduated from Burnside High School in Iowa in 1956. She later continued her education and earned an Associate Degree in Architectural Design from Southeast Technical Institute in 1993.

Throughout her life, Cheryl called many communities home, including Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Sioux City, and Paullina, Iowa; Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Dickinson, North Dakota; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Cheryl was first married to Charles Jones in 1956 and had 3 children, Janelle, Timothy, and Kenneth. Later she married Lauren Haacke in Dickinson, North Dakota, in 1982.

Her professional life reflected versatility and dedication. Cheryl worked as an Avon representative, bookkeeper, funeral home organist, new accounts manager, college admissions representative, Mary Kay consultant, hospital receptionist, ServiceMaster manager, Relay SD associate, and tour company greeter. Her career included positions with Midtown Mobil, George Boom Funeral Home, Western Bank, Jennings Standard Oil, Augustana College, St. Joseph’s Hospital, ServiceMaster, and Relay SD.

Faith was an important part of Cheryl’s life. She participated in Community of Christ congregations in Iowa, Kansas, and South Dakota; First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls; and Our Savior’s Lutheran congregations in Dickinson and Sioux Falls.

Cheryl treasured her family and also enjoyed reading, music, the theater, traveling and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lenora Anderson; her spouse, Lauren Haacke; her brothers, Eugene Anderson and Curtis Anderson; and her son, Kenneth Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Janelle (Jones) Anders of West Des Moines, Iowa; her son, Timothy Jones of Little Elm, Texas; grandchildren Kristin (Jones) Lere and Tony Lere of Erie, Colorado, Kevin Anders of San Diego, California, Shannon Anders of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Brian Anders and Alison Anders of Atascadero, California; and great-grandchildren Owen, Ryan, and Sophia Lere of Erie, Colorado, and Calvin and Danielle Anders of Atascadero, California.

Cheryl will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
