Corey Douglas
Hybertson
Sep 16, 1977 — Sep 4, 2025
Sioux Falls
Corey Douglas Hybertson, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 47.
A visitation for family and friends to pay their respects will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A heartfelt prayer service and time for memory sharing will begin at 7:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home - Westside Chapel, located at 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57106. Please join us in honoring Corey's life and the love he brought to those around him.
Raised by Joel and Kathleen (DeMers) Hybertson, Corey grew up surrounded by a loving family who cherished his humor, generosity, and remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met.
Corey was a proud and devoted father to his two daughters, Elizabeth (Hybertson) Walberg and her husband, Elijah, and Kelsey Hybertson. His daughters were his greatest joy, and he never missed an opportunity to express how proud he was of them. He was especially proud of Elizabeth's recent marriage to Eli and beginning her career as an 8th-grade teacher this year, and Kelsey entering her first year of college at UC San Diego, majoring in Mathematics and Economics.
Corey was always on the move—chasing adventures, exploring new interests, and living life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He had a passion for collecting things, and an even greater gift for giving them away. His stories were often larger than life, and he loved sharing a laugh or a long conversation with anyone willing to listen. Corey lived fully, in his own unique way, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, humor, and heartfelt connection.
He is survived by his parents, Joel and Kathleen, and Terry Bertram; his daughters, Elizabeth (Elijah) Walberg and Kelsey; his brother Christopher (Kari) Hybertson and their sons Owen, Jack, and Teigen; his brother Scott Hybertson (Tonya Reif) and her sons Parker and Teagen; his sister Kristen Hybertson; brothers Rustin and Brady Bertram; and his grandmother, Faye Bertram.
Corey will be remembered for his radiant smile, his colorful storytelling, his giving spirit, and the many ways he brightened the lives of those around him.
