Obituary

Corlus Caldwell, 93, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away Tuesday evening, December 16, at the Alcester Care and Rehab Center, where she had been a resident since May.

Visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Miller Funeral Downtown Chapel, 507 South Main Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Corlus was born on January 10, 1932, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated from Washington High School in 1950. Throughout her life, Corlus cherished time spent with friends and was known for her strong sense of community and fellowship.

She was a devoted member of TOPS Club for over 60 years and played an essential role in its success. Corlus also founded the first Red Hat Society chapter in Sioux Falls, where she proudly served as the "Queen Mother" of the Foxy Ladies. On Friday mornings, she enjoyed gathering for coffee with the Highland girls, a close-knit group of women who had all worked together at Highland Potato Chips until the Sioux Falls plant closed.

Corlus is survived by her two daughters, Connie Young of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Virginia Munro of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Vicky Peterson, Christopher Wright, and Danielle Young; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
