Danny "Dan"
Jerald Kindvall
Dec 18, 1945 — Aug 3, 2025
Danny "Dan" Jerald Kindvall, age 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a life marked by love, service, and craftsmanship.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Miller funeral Home (West Side Location) 6200 W. 41st St. Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon.
Dan was born on December 18, 1945, on a farm near Carthage, South Dakota, to Edwin Kindvall and Sadie (Cory) Kindvall. He was one of six children and grew up working hard on the family farm. He attended small country schools in Carthage and Orland, SD. Dan attended Orland High School where he graduated in the spring of 1965. While attending school, Dan also worked for Jerry Kapperman to help support himself.
Just months after graduation, in December of 1965, Dan was drafted into the United States Army. He served honorably in Vietnam, earning the respect of his fellow soldiers through his dedication and bravery. After completing his service, Dan was discharged in December 1967 and began a lifelong career in the construction industry as a mechanic and welder. He was known for his skilled hands and strong work ethic, providing faithfully for his extended family.
Dan became a loving father to his three daughters, Kimberly, Kristina, and Kelly, from a previous marriage.
In 1992, Dan met the love of his life, Jean Meadow. The two were soon married and shared a beautiful life together. They lived in Illinois for many years before returning to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 2017.
Dan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, and building things—always creating, always tinkering. He had a sharp wit and a warm, generous heart. His sense of humor could light up any room, and he delighted in traveling and taking cruises with Jean and their family.
Grateful to have shared in Dan's life are his beloved wife, Jean. Dan is also survived by his cherished daughters from a previous marriage, Kimberly (Brent) Garrett of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kristina (Criss) Gooding of Embarrass, MN, and Kelly (Jason) Malsom of Brookings, SD; seven dear grandchildren and one great-grandson; and step-daughter, Linda Meadow Kalson of NY. In addition, Dan is survived by his brother Lawrence (Barbara) Kindvall of Sioux Falls, SD, and sisters Sharon Roth of Montrose, SD, and Susan Huntley of Sioux Falls, SD.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Sadie, and his brothers, Daryl and Timothy.
