Darrell "Buck"
Wampler
Feb 9, 1952 — Jun 14, 2026
Sioux Falls
Darrell "Buck" Wampler, 74, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.
Darrell Ray Wampler was born on February 9, 1952, in Philip, South Dakota, to Robert and Doreen Wampler. He grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for the outdoors, and a deep devotion to family.
On September 9, 1978, Buck married Jeanine Bridges. Together they made their home in Brandon, South Dakota, where they built their first house. Their greatest joys came with the births of their two children, Jacob "Jake" Wampler on November 5, 1987, and Annie Rose Wampler on May 31, 1991.
Buck treasured time spent with his family, especially hunting and bow hunting with his son, Jake. The two shared countless adventures and stories that will be remembered for years to come. He was also an avid golfer and spent many happy hours on the golf course. His family always knew it had been a good day when he returned home wearing a big smile.
In his younger years, Buck enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and embraced the freedom of the open road. Although he never gave up his beloved Harley, he was always protective of his children and hoped they would choose a safer path.
Above all else, Buck's favorite role in life was being a father. His love and pride for Jake and Annie were evident in everything he did. Family was the center of his world, and the memories he created with those he loved will remain a lasting gift.
Buck is survived by his son, Jacob "Jake" Wampler; his daughter, Annie Rose Wampler; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Dick) and Midge Wampler; his nephews, Michael Wampler, Matthew Wampler, and Matthew's wife, Jasmine; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doreen Wampler, and his grandparents.
Buck's kindness, humor, and love for family will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral Mass will by held on Monday, June 22, at 10 AM at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, located at 521 N Duluth Ave. in Sioux Falls.
