David Vernard Anderson was born on March 7, 1942, to Venard and Christina (Lofgren) Anderson in Sioux Falls. He attended Sioux Falls public schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1960.

On November 17, 1963, David married Monica A. Meier in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The couple lived in Sioux Falls and became loving parents to their two daughters, Kimberly and Amy Jo.

David worked in real estate as a realtor/broker and eventually became the owner of Century 21 Realty Center. He also taught real estate classes for 36 years. After more than 50 years in the industry, David retired.

David cherished time with his family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A former member of Toastmasters, he was known for his gift of storytelling—always ready with a tale for anyone willing to listen. He enjoyed tinkering with his many computers, listening to his favorite artists, including Celine Dion, Jimmy Buffett, and Neil Sedaka, and relaxing with classic westerns. David also had a deep love of politics and followed current events with great interest, always eager for a spirited debate. His curiosity, humor, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Monica Anderson; his daughters, Kimberly (Kevin) Schmidt of Sioux Falls and Amy Jo (Joel) Longo of Minnetonka, MN; 5 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. David is also survived by his brother, John (Joyce) Anderson of Sioux Falls, along with many other family members.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Vernard and Christina Anderson, and his sisters, Evonne Anderson and Alinda Moss.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Miller Funeral Home – Downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
