David F. Marquardt, 82, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD.

David F. Marquardt, son of Frederick and Mildred (Overton) Marquardt, was born February 23, 1942 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up there graduating from Watertown High School in 1964. He attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, earning his Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science. Now on to Washington, DC where he attended American University earning a Masters degree in Political Science.

David was united in marriage with Linda Hartshorne on August 7, 1965 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. They were blessed with two children, Jillian and Ian. Enjoying a variety of careers, David found the one he truly loved being CEO of the South Dakota State University Foundation. Go JACKS!

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 59 years, Linda Marquardt, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a daughter Jillian Marquardt and her significant other Mark Parsons, Reston, Virginia; a son Ian (Magdalena) Marquardt and two granddaughters, Julia and Christina Marquardt, Berlin, Germany; and one sister Katherine (Van) Nixon, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Eleanor "Nona" and Mary.

A celebration of life event will be held in the Spring.
