David J. Pleasant, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on April 10, 1952, to David and Doris (Peterson) Pleasant in Plainfield, New Jersey.

David attended North Plainfield High School in New Jersey before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served for four years. His time in the Marines took him to various locations worldwide, including Puerto Rico, Camp Lejeune, and California. During his travels, he met the love of his life, Nina. They were married on January 9, 1988, choosing this date so he would never forget her birthday. Years later, they were blessed with a son, Andrew, born in 1991.

David was active and had many interests, including biking, hiking, weightlifting three times a week, and running. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics fan. Known for his patience, David often spent his spare time building military kit models from scratch. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed laughing and joking around. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Nina Pleasant; son, Andrew Pleasant; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Pleasant, and Daniel "Danny" Pleasant; nephews, Dennis (Dan), Christopher (Veronica), and John (Chanel).

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Doris Pleasant.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the South Dakota Veteran Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
