Dawn Marie Torres (Campbell) of Sioux Falls passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024. Dawn was 54.

Dawn Marie was born on June 15, 1970, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Her parents, Fr. Ronald A. Campbell and Marlene H. (Cloud) Campbell adopted her as an infant. Dawn Marie attended elementary school in Vermillion, South Dakota, and graduated high school from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in Sisseton.

In the summer of 1987, Dawn Marie met Reynold DuMarce, and together, they had four beautiful daughters. Their relationship ended after the birth of their youngest daughter. In 2004, Dawn married Louie Torres at the VA hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. In this union, she took on two of Louie's sons, and they raised their blended family together until 2008.

She was a dedicated worker who always gave her all to tasks and took pride in her work. Dawn held various jobs, including laborer, caregiver, and blackjack dealer at numerous casinos and even at the Dakota Sioux Casino.

Dawn Marie enjoyed her passion for reading romance novels and completing crossword puzzles, and she was quite the artist. She deeply appreciated nature and being outside walking. She even considered the neighborhood squirrels around her apartment as pets and would take time out of her mornings and evenings to feed them. She loved spending quality time with her grandkids and always had treats waiting for them. Dawn also enjoyed thrifting and going to rummage sales. Her love for these simple pleasures reflected her genuine, caring nature. She had a friendly personality and made many lasting friendships. Her passion for life will be dearly missed.

Grateful for sharing her life are her daughters, Jessica (Tony) Zephier, Heather DuMarce, Kyrie Dunkley, and Mila DuMarce-Stozenko; stepson, Louie Torres Jr.; and 12 grandchildren, Azriel, Kingston, Cassius, Akicita, Alena, Leonidas, Matthew Jr., A'Milliyano, Zahra'Lynn, Tavion, Azee, and Kolson. Many siblings both biological and adopted. Numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends also survive her.

Dawn Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Fr. Ron and Marlene Campbell; little brother, Chad Campbell; stepson, Manuel Torres; and her biological parents, Neville Red Starr Sr and Gladys Little Bull.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 500 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104, with family present to greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.
