Dean
Strable
May 28, 1971 — Apr 17, 2025
Sioux Falls
We are deeply saddened to announce that Dean Strable, a beloved member of our community, peacefully passed away at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was just 53 years old.
Dean was born on May 28, 1971, in Denver, Colorado. His family later moved to Sioux Falls, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1989.
In 1995, Dean married the love of his life, Tami Kenyon, in Sioux Falls. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming three wonderful children: Chad, Samantha, and Mikeal, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Dean was introduced to the flooring trade by his uncle Kirk and started his own business in 1992, specializing in ceramic tile installation for many local contractors. Dean proudly established his own company as a dedicated ceramic tile installer, showcasing his talent and commitment to hard work.
Family was at the heart of everything for Dean. He was a devoted husband and a loving father who found great joy in being "Papa Dean" to his ten cherished grandchildren. Known as the family planner, Dean organized numerous family adventures. He would share the day he wanted to leave but always kept everyone guessing about the time. He would send a text that said, "On my way!" #ONDEANSTIME.
In 1997, Dean began taking his family to the Sioux Valley Cycle Club, where he and his children started racing motorcycles. In 2021, he began racing side-by-sides (UTVs) on both ice and dirt. He also followed the IATVSS Series racing in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri. Sadly, in April 2024, Dean was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.
Dean's legacy will live on through his wife of 30 years, Tami Strable, and his children: Chad (Sonya Lopez) Kenyon of Sioux Falls, Samantha (Cody) Berry of Harrisburg, SD, and Mikeal (Tiffany) Strable of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by ten beloved grandchildren: Camden, Bryson, and Ariya Kenyon, and Shayne Kennedy; Rhyder, Huckson, and Lennyn Berry; and LayLa, Lucas, and Dax Strable. Additionally, Dean's family includes his stepfather, Bob Flannery; his brother, Jeremy (Cristina) Flannery; his sister, Jenny (Andrew) Coats; his father, Rex Strable Sr.; Karen Lovell; and his father and mother-in-law, Don and Rita Kenyon. He is also remembered by his special uncle and aunt, Kirk and Terry Lovell; dear friends Pete Tapken and Mike VerMulm; his racing family; and his beloved dog, Oakley, who was his best friend.
Dean was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents and his dear cousin, Craig Lovell, who will always be remembered.
A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home—Downtown, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During this time, family members will be present to share cherished memories and celebrate Dean's remarkable life. The family invites everyone to wear their Team 29 t-shirts, race shirts, or jerseys in memory of Dean.
