Dennis L. Kaarup, 74 of Sioux Falls, SD passed away with family at his side on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Ava's Hospice House.

Dennis was born on June 24, 1951, in Viborg, SD, to Myrtis and LeRoy Kaarup.  After graduating from St. John's military academy,  he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Theresa Graham, in November of 1970.

Dennis worked many different jobs, ranging from owning a service shop to owning an embroidery shop.  He was many different things to different people.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and Shriner friend. He was loved by so many people and will be missed.

Outgoing and social, Dennis played the tuba, golfed, and hunted. He helped coach his kids in their chosen sports. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan and a real prankster. An active member of the El Riad Shrine, Dennis served as potentate in 2010 and was a member of the Clown Unit as "Gizzmoe".

Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years Theresa, Tea, SD; his mother Myrtis, Wakonda, SD; three daughters Tanya (Dan) Kaarup, Cheri (Ron) Kaarup, Jeneil (David) Kaarup-Baird; seven grandchildren, Alexis Volkers, Christian Kaarup, Alivia Baird, Chloe Baird, and the happily acquired Dilynn Baird, Crystal Toney and Zakk Stoops, along with four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father LeRoy, sister Janet Kaarup-Draper along with several aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Services will be held at the El Riad Shrine at 1:00pm on June 28th, 2026
