Dianne D. Persing, age 69, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born in Fort Myers, Florida, on August 29, 1955.
A Private funeral service will be held on Friday with Interment at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Dianne graduated from Naples High School in Florida in 1973. After graduation, she joined the United States Air Force and served as a Security Forces Law Enforcement Officer, where she earned the pistol marksmanship ribbon. During her two years of service, she met the love of her life, Terry Persing, and they were united in marriage on April 3, 1976, at Christ the King in Sioux Falls, SD.
Dianne was incredibly proud of her two children, Chantel and Joshua, both of whom followed in their parents' footsteps by serving in the United States Air Force. Her children and their families blessed her with four precious grandchildren, whom she adored.
Dianne enjoyed reading the Bible and was passionate about Jesus Christ, and never missed an opportunity to share Him with family and friends. She was a devoted member of Calvary Assembly of God church. In her free time, she enjoyed making beaded jewelry, which was gifted and adorned by family members. She was often seen carrying an extra bag of yarn and crochet needles, where she would use her spare time to make blankets. Dianne really enjoyed watching old western television shows and reading various novels. She had a special love for animals, especially her dogs. She also cherished going fishing and out to eat with Terry.
Grateful to have shared her life are her husband of 49 years, Terry Persing; children, Chantel (Justin) Booker, and Joshua (Laura) Persing; siblings, Wayne Whidden, and Joanne Whidden; Step-mother, Barbara Whidden; grandchildren, Jordyn, Olivia, Logan, and Delilah; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Whidden.
