Having lived a lifetime embracing her love of family, community, and all living things, she leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, leadership, service, and faith

Dina Mae Brandt was born on July 22, 1933, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to parents John Henry and Hulda (Zulk) Brandt. She attended Sioux Falls Public Schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1951.

After graduation, Dina married Walter W. Holgate and settled in Sioux Falls. Walt joined the South Dakota Air National Guard, and Dina worked as an accountant at Land O Lakes. They lived in multiple locations, including Illinois, California, and Rapid City, SD.

Following Walter's retirement from the service, Dina took over her father's house-moving business, J.H. Brandt Engineering Co. While working in the house-moving industry, she also operated the Brandt Land and Cattle Co.

Dina moved to Chamberlain, SD, in 1983, where she was the Economic Development Director for the Lake Francis Case Development Corporation. She dedicated 20 years to this position before retiring in 2003.

Dina was a lifelong member of St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. She actively participated in church activities and taught confirmation and Sunday school for many years. She also wrote for SCOPE, American Lutheran Church Women magazine. Dina served as the state treasurer of the South Dakota Livestock Association and was a member of the South Dakota Stockgrowers.

She is survived by her children, Sherene Jennings, Washougal, WA, Camera Hunter, Sioux Falls, and Jeffrey Holgate, Madison, SD. Dina leaves behind seven grandchildren: Alexander (Amanda) Hunter, Dash Hunter, Max Hunter, Michelle DeCicco, Joshua Anderson, Haleigh Holgate, and Ryan Holgate; four great-grandchildren: Isaac and Ezra Hunter, Breanna DeCicco, and Jasmine Medina; and one great-great-granddaughter, Leia Medina.
