Dona Dell Remmers was born on August 20, 1943, to Arthur and Elaine (Fuller) Remmers near Naples, South Dakota. She graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1961.

After graduation, Dona moved to Sioux Falls, where she attended Nettleton Community College while working at Brown Drug. This started her career working in office positions in various companies. In 1964, Dona moved to San Francisco, California, where she lived for 7 years before traveling abroad to Sydney, Australia, in 1971. After several years, Dona returned to the U.S., where she worked at the University of Santa Clara in San Francisco until she returned to Sioux Falls in the late 1970's. In 1980, Dona left South Dakota again, first back to San Francisco to work at Macy's and then later on to Las Vegas, Nevada. In May of 2019, Dona retired and returned to Sioux Falls.

Growing up on the farm with seven siblings and many cousins nearby, family was important to Dona. She liked that she could pick up the phone any day to call her siblings to catch up and keep in touch – a far cry from how it was in past years when it was expensive to call and letters took a long time to exchange.

Dona loved to travel, not only around the country but around the world. Never having a husband or kids, she was free to seek adventure wherever it took her. Living in Australia for many years, as well as the U.S., made it easy to visit over 60 countries and places across the U.S. - even Naples in Italy, Florida, and South Dakota.

Dona enjoyed sports. As an avid softball player for many years, she enjoyed playing ball with her sister, Karleen, in Hazel and Sioux Falls. Anyone who met her knew she was a huge 49ers fan and loved to watch their games. As a proud member of the American Business Women's Club (ABWA), Dona was awarded Woman of the Year in 2011. She also cherished the time she spent with her sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi, a service and social sorority. She had a love of reading, though she changed to books on tape in later years.

Grateful for sharing Dona's life are her brothers, Archie (Marlys) Remmers, Wesley (Judy) Remmers, Gary (Kathy) Remmers, Roger Remmers, and Arlo (Colita) Remmers; brother-in-law, Loren Josephson; sister-in-law, Mavis Remmers; 19 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in life by her parents, Arthur and Elaine Remmers; brothers, Lorraine Remmers (infant) and Carl Remmers; and sister, Karleen Josephson.
