Donald "Don"
R. Weisser
Aug 10, 1940 — Aug 22, 2025
Sioux Falls
Donald "Don" Ruben Weisser, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 surrounded by his family at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (909 W. 33rd St., Sioux Falls, SD). Family will be present from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Miller Funeral Home – Southside Chapel (7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD).
Don was born on August 10, 1940 to Ruben and Wynetta "Nettie" (Tiede) Weisser in their farmhouse in Scotland, South Dakota. He was the oldest of two children. Don lived on the family farm in Parkston, South Dakota his entire childhood and graduated from Parkston High School in 1958. After graduating, he then attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls. Other than a short time spent residing in Sioux City, Iowa, Don lived in Parkston and Sioux Falls the entirety of his life.
In the late 1950's, Don met Dee Heier at the Barrel Drive-In in Sioux Falls. The couple married on February 5, 1960 and had their first child, Jody, in July of 1960, followed by their son, Kevin, a year later, and their third child, Kyle, in 1970.
Don had the gift of the gab which brought him success in his career as a retail salesman for NCR corporation. He worked there for 30 years before retiring in 2000. Don was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Elks Club throughout the 70's and 80's. He loved to fish and hunt, but also especially loved to golf after his retirement. Don would golf 18 holes 3 times a week until he turned 78. Don had a booming laugh so unique to him that you instantly knew if he was joking around, and he certainly always had a joke or two to share. A loving grandfather, Don was also kept busy cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events and he made it a priority to attend all that he could.
Don will be greatly missed by his sons, Kevin (Becky) Weisser and Kyle (Lisa) Weisser, both of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Lindsay (Jose) Rodak of Santa Clara, CA, Nick Rodak of Rancho Mirage, CA, Joshua, Jacob, and Christina Weisser of Sioux Falls, SD, Chloe, Cade, and Claire Weisser of Sioux Falls, SD; and his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Weisser of Brandon, SD, and Isaac, Revi, and Travis Martinez of Santa Clara, CA.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Delores "Dee" Weisser; his daughter, Jody Weisser-Rodak; his grandson, Joey; and his parents, Ruben and Nettie Weisser.
