Doreen Carol Graves, 64, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Born on August 20, 1961, in Sioux Falls, Doreen was the daughter of Dale and Carol Gabel. She graduated from Washington High School in 1979 and remained a lifelong resident of the city she loved.
Throughout her life, Doreen worked diligently in various roles across Sioux Falls. She spent over two decades at Fryin' Pan, where her dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on coworkers and patrons alike. She also held positions at Paape Distributing and Perkins Restaurant, contributing consistently and with care to each workplace.
Doreen was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Jennifer Preheim and her husband, Austin; Ryan Cleveland; Liza Knappe and her husband, Dalton; and her siblings: Deb (Bruce) Weeldreyer; Dale (Linda) Gabel; Denise (Steve) Richter; David (Renee) Gabel; and Donna (Dale) Olsen. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Ryley, Meghan, Edward, Paige, Austyn, Maddax, and Makenzie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard and her parents, Dale and Carol Gabel.
Doreen had a vibrant personality that shone through in everything she did. A passionate NASCAR enthusiast and loyal Los Angeles Lakers fan, she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorites. Her love for nature and wildlife reflected a deep appreciation for the world around her. An exceptional baker known for her delicious creations, Doreen often brought comfort to others through food. Above all else, she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Her faith was an important part of her life. At the time of her passing, Doreen was a member of Embrace Church in Sioux Falls. She found great joy in contemporary Christian music and drew strength from its message.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, located at 507 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57104. A memorial service in her honor is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Embrace Church, situated at 2800 East 57th Street, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57103.
