Emma Marlene Zomer, 83, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Friday, December 27, at the Netherlands Reformed Congregations Church, 620 E. 1st Street, Corsica, SD with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Corsica, SD.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, December 26, at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Emma Marlene, daughter of B.D. and Marie (Ymker) Schelling, was born October 22, 1941 in Sioux County, IA. She grew up on a farm by Rock Valley, IA before moving to Armour, SD at a young age. She attended country school before working at a local café in Armour. She worked there until getting married to Clarence Zomer on December 22, 1959.

They lived in Corsica, SD before moving to the farm. She was a homemaker for many years, taking such good care of her children, they were her pride and joy. She worked briefly at the Corsica Nursing Home before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1982. After moving to Sioux Falls, she worked at Heibert's Greenhouse, Dow Rommel Village, Daylight Donuts, Brenda's Pastry and Shirley's Hallmark. She was a janitor for the Netherland's Reformed Church and cleaned many residential homes. She always made time to spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregations Church in Corsica, SD before transferring her membership to the Netherlands Reformed Congregations Church in Sioux Falls, SD.

Emma Marlene is survived by her 6 children, Douglas Zomer (Diana) of Sun Prairie, WI, Debra Walton, Sally Sehr (Eugene), Scott Zomer (Renee' Sherwood), Vickie Zomer, all of Sioux Falls, SD and Vandal Zomer (Kristine) of Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Powell of Sioux City, IA, and sisters-in-law, Jean Schelling of Corsica, SD, Shirley Weisser of Tripp, SD, Jeane Zomer of Sioux Center, IA and Joane Zomer of Rock Valley, IA. Brother-in-law, Ivan Vander Werff of Armour, SD.

Emma Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; her parents, B.D. and Marie Schelling; parents-in-law, Herman Sr. and Helena Zomer; brothers Lambert Schelling, Rochus Schelling, Cornie Schelling, John Schelling; sisters, Hattie Hubers, Minnie Jean; brothers-in-law Harold Hubers, Frank Powell, Dick L Rozeboom, Cozyn Rozeboom, Dick G Rozeboom, Herman Zomer, Jr. and Cornie Zomer; sisters-in-law, Marian Schelling, Corrie Schelling, Hermina Rozeboom, Nellie Rozeboom, Betty Rozeboom and granddaughter Kaysha Zomer.
