Fern B. Bobier, Sioux Falls, SD, died October 9, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village. She was 86.

Fern was born on January 18, 1922, to Elijah and Adolphine (Schultz) Benning. In 1940, she graduated from Bridgewater High School. Following her graduation, she attended teletype school in Omaha, NE. Returning to Sioux Falls, Fern began working for John Morrell and Company.   She was united in marriage to Wayne Bobier on July 27, 1947, in Sioux Falls. Following the birth of her son, Larry, she became a homemaker and loving mother.   Fern loved gardening. She grew a tremendous amount of vegetables and enjoyed canning in the fall. She also had a passion for tending to her flower beds. Fern grew a large array of flowers. For decades, the Bobier family had a dance band. Fern played bass guitar; son, Larry played the accordion; and husband, Wayne played the drums. The Bobier family traveled the close region playing Polka's and a variety of other music for a number of dances. In Sioux Falls, they enjoyed playing at the Center for Active Generations. Bringing joy to those around them, the Bobier family loved to entertain.   Caring and gentle, Fern always gave of herself, placing the needs of others before her own. Her kind and compassionate spirit will be forever cherished.    Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Wayne Bobier; son, Larry Bobier, both of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Norman Benning (Diane), Sioux Falls, Darold Benning, Parker, SD; sisters, Bernita Patrick (Merle), White, SD, Denise Holmberg (Lewis), Parker, SD; and many nieces and nephews.   Memorial Services will be held 10:00am Saturday, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue. Visitation will begin at noon, Friday, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 6:00 Friday evening.
