Frank Charles "Charlie" Weatherwax passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie fought a courageous battle with cancer, demonstrating the strength, resilience, and love that defined his life.

Born on November 30, 1949, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Charlie was the beloved son of Frank and Dolores Weatherwax. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls and continued his education at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1972. After graduation, Charlie worked alongside his father at Weatherwax's Mens Wear, a cherished family business in Sioux Falls. Following the store's closure, he transitioned to a successful career as a certified residential appraiser, retiring in 2018.

Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, with whom he shared many cherished years of love and laughter; his three children, Megan (Joel) Jacobs of Elkhorn, NE, Kelli (Zack) Winter of Sioux Falls, SD, and Tyler Weatherwax of Sioux Falls, SD; his seven grandchildren: Lily, Emery, Brooks, Olivia, Liam, Ivy, and Dax; his sister, Dione (Jody) Burnett and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Scott Weatherwax.

A man of many passions, Charlie had a deep love for music, especially the timeless sounds of The Beatles, the Eagles, and the Traveling Wilburys. He also had a fondness for cars, boating and in his earlier years he loved to fly recreationally with his father. He brought a spirit of adventure and a love for the open road and passed this love for adventure to his children. He was a wonderful father, always there to offer guidance, support and love. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly called him Papa. Charlie cherished his friends and the time he spent with them, whether it was playing a game of Golden Tee golf or a game of dice.  He truly looked forward to his time spent with them and the laughter that came with it. He will be greatly missed by all.

Charlie's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be remembered as a kind and compassionate soul who faced life's challenges with courage and grace. He had a great sense of humor and an even better smile.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on February 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 7400 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57108. Lunch will be provided after the service. Please join the family for fellowship and refreshments later that evening from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, at Gibs Sports Bar (3104 E. 26th St. Sioux Falls.)  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to Feeding South Dakota in Charlie's honor.
