Frederick "Rick"
Clements
Oct 24, 1957 — Oct 9, 2026
Sioux Falls, SD
Frederick Dillon Clements Jr., lovingly known to family and friends as Rick or Ricky, passed away on October 9, 2026.
Rick was a handyman at heart. If something needed fixing, he was the person you called. He seemed to have just the right tool for every job and took pride in being able to figure things out and lend a helping hand. He spent his working life in maintenance, dedicating many of those years to River Tower in Sioux Falls, where his skills and hard work were a part of who he was.
Rick had a playful spirit, a sharp sense of humor, and a love for a good prank. He never missed an opportunity to throw in a sarcastic comment or joke, often leaving those around him laughing, shaking their heads, or doing both. His quick wit and mischievous ways were part of what made him so memorable, and those who knew him will always have a story or two to tell about him.
Outside of work, Rick enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his plants and took pleasure in tending to them. He also enjoyed feeding the squirrels and other backyard wildlife, finding happiness in the little visitors that came around. Rick also had a love for dragons, with figurines displayed throughout his home. His collection was just one more thing that made his home uniquely his own.
Some of Rick’s most treasured moments were spent with his grandchildren, Jaiker and Zyanna. He loved being silly with them, making memories, and sharing the kind of laughter that makes life special. His playful nature made time with him fun and memorable, and the moments they shared will be cherished for years to come.
Rick leaves behind his son, Aaron (Lacey) Clements; his beloved grandchildren, Jaiker and Zyanna; his brother, Steve; and his sisters, Nancy (Paul) and Jean. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Rick leaves behind more than the things he fixed or the work he did. He leaves behind laughter, stories, memories, and the little things that will remind his loved ones of him — a sarcastic joke, a familiar tool, a thriving plant, a dragon figurine, or a squirrel stopping by the backyard. These everyday reminders will help keep his memory alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rest easy, Rick. You will be missed more than words can say and remembered in more ways than you could ever know.
