Gary Kenneth Albert was born in Canton, SD to Kenneth and Florence (Ekle) Albert on January 27, 1954. He died on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Wakonda Heritage Manor - Avera in Wakonda, SD. Family will be present for visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Miller Funeral Home - Westside Chapel (6200 W 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD).
Gary lived on a farm near Canton until the age of six when the family moved to Sioux Falls. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972 and from Pipestone Technical College in 1974. Gary then moved to Virginia and worked construction for various contractors before becoming an independent subcontractor and forming Albert Enterprises in the mid 1990's. It was in Virginia where he met his wife, Beverly Carroll (Limerick) Albert. They were married on June 11, 1977. Gary and Beverly had one son, Charles Gary, who is married to Gretchen. Charles and Gretchen have one daughter, Rhody. Gary later moved back to Sioux Falls and held various jobs including Morrell's and Pizza Inn.
For many years you could find Gary playing cards or dice games. In the past few years Gary really enjoyed playing Bingo. He was always very happy to announce to anyone that would listen to him, that he won at Bingo! Even though there were many miles between them, Gary loved it when he was able to hear about his granddaughter and talk with her on the phone.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Florence Albert; his sister, Naomi Spencer; his brothers-in-law, Ira Petersen and Stan Spear; his sister-in-law, Melissia Albert; his mother- and father- in law, Thomas J. and Virginia Limerick; his nephew Matthew Schierholt; and his great-nephew, Kade Longelin.
Gary is survived by his son, Charles (Gretchen) Albert; his granddaughter, Rhody; his former wife, Beverly; his siblings, Judy Petersen, Jeff (Deb) Albert, Kerri Paxton, and Scott Albert; his brother-in-law, Kevin Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
