Greg Wartnaby died fighting chronic illness February 2, 2026 at Sanford Imagenetics in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 54.

Gregory John Wartnaby was born August 25, 1971 in Fort Dodge, IA to Archie Leeroy and Charlene LaRay (Moore) Wartnaby. He attended Fort Dodge public schools graduating in 1989. After graduation he entered military service July 12, 1989.

After four years of service in the Army including deployment during Operation: Desert Storm he was honorably discharged on July 11, 1993. Following his service he attended Iowa Lakes Community College graduating with an associates degree in environmental science.

On September 9, 1996 he married Kendra Fink. The two of them shortly after moved to Terril, IA where they had their two children, Michael and Samantha Wartnaby.

After retiring early due to disability from a career in Agriculture and Manufacturing, he immersed himself in his passion for religion becoming more involved with his community at Hope Reformed Church and joining the Christian Motorcycle Association. Through these organizations he found a calling in prison ministry with Brothers in Blue. He also enjoyed pastimes such as hunting, fishing, and boating.

Mourning him to this day are his children, Michael Wartnaby, Spencer, IA, Samantha Wartnaby, Emmetsburg, IA; Ex-wife, Kendra Wartnaby, Spencer, IA; Brother, James Wartnaby, Joplin, MO; Friends, Neighbors, and all his extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Charlene Wartnaby.

Funeral services will be held at the Terril, IA cemetery at later date to be determined.
