Grovalynn "Lynn" Foreman Sisler stepped into Heaven peacefully December 3, 2024, the day after her 90th birthday. Throughout her life, she combined talent, ingenuity, humor and determination to accomplish whatever she set her mind to do.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 14, at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.  Burial will be at Altus Cemetery, Altus, OK.

Lynn was born in Altus, Oklahoma on December 2, 1934 to Pat and Norene (Naylor) Foreman. She attended Altus High School, polishing her musical skills in the marching band, and playing in the "Twelve Piano Festival" with her mother. After graduating in 1953, she went to Oklahoma State University, majoring in Home Economics Education. There she met and married John S. Gould, Jr. and they had a daughter, Jana.

After teaching high school home economics in Estancia, New Mexico for three years, Lynn returned to Stillwater to earn her Master's and Doctoral degrees from Oklahoma State. She taught at the University of Arkansas and Kansas State University before she was once again recruited to Oklahoma State as an instructor, then Associate Professor, then professor and head of the department of Housing, Design and Merchandising. She loved and excelled in her career, and was gratified and proud to keep in touch and see her students and advisees going out across the United States as professors, heads of departments and community leaders. She retired from OSU in 1997 as an Associate Dean in the College of Human Environmental Sciences.

Lynn's deepest love was for her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family and many dear friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stillwater for nearly 50 years, where she served as a deacon, member of the choir, and after retirement, volunteer church secretary.

She delighted in planning holidays, fishing tournaments, outdoor adventures, and keeping the cookie jar filled for her three grandsons. Later she had great fun playing with her great-granddaughters and teaching them to play the piano. She created exquisite clothing, needlework of all kinds, and was always ready to help a friend with a sewing project gone awry. Many friends still treasure handmade gifts she gave.

Although she was not fond of everyday meal cooking, Lynn was a prolific cookie baker, and at Christmas time many batches of her famous peanut brittle, toffee and other candy went out to friends and colleagues in beautifully decorated packages.

In 1969, Lynn married David Sisler and together over the next 40 plus years they built their little piece of paradise on Warren Drive just outside of Stillwater. There, especially after retirement Lynn had a full life of learning, planting and enjoying her wildflower meadow, fishing and paddle boating in the pond, and patrolling with her 410 shotgun, keeping the neighborhood safe from rampaging armadillos.

After years of retirement travel, Lynn and Dave moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 2015 to be near their daughter Jana and their grandsons and families, all of whom were grateful and blessed to have them nearby.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dave, and her brother CSM Forrest K. Foreman, USA.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jana Gould Lowrey and Robert Lowrey of Sioux Falls, grandsons Taylor Lowrey (April) of Sioux Falls, Nicholas Lowrey (Leah) of Spencer, IA and Bryan Lowrey (Emily) of Sioux Falls, and great-grandchildren Emily, Juliet and Abigail Lowrey of Sioux Falls and Charlotte and George Lowrey of Spencer, IA.
