SFC Harold James Richardson Kittrell was born July 13, 1947, to the late Alberta C. Richardson Kittrell (John), at the Miami Memorial Hospital in Dade County Miami, Florida. Harold met and married the love of his life, Donna Marie Newton Lett Kittrell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Harold spent his early childhood years with his loving grandparents, Edward and Gussie (both deceased.) It was there that he developed a passion for playing the saxophone. Harold later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to live with his mother. Upon graduating high school in 1966, he joined the United States Army. Later that year, he deployed to Vietnam to fight in the war. He spent the next 20 years at various duty stations around the world. He retired from the service in 1986. Harold then took to the road, saxophone in hand, and band in tow, pursuing his passion to entertain. He was a real crowd-pleaser, especially at his home church and other local venues.

Left to cherish his fond memory are his wife, Donna Newton Lett Kittrell; bonus children, Dana Walker Roscoe Mahaffey of Atlanta, GA, and Shermeka Johnson of Albany, GA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and godchildren; sisters, Darice (James) Smith of Illinois, Zina Kittrell, Taron (Louis) Boney, Misty Kittrell of Minnesota, and Cenith (Scott) Kolek of North Carolina; a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins; uncle, Larrie Lovett of Stonecrest, GA; military comrades; and very special sorrowful friends.

Special thanks to Dylan Clark (MRHFM) of St Louis, MO; Swamp Daddy's Cajun Kitchen; Miller Funeral Home; Staff at AseraCare and Amedisys Hospice of Sioux Falls, SD; VA Hospitals in Atlanta, GA, Los Angeles, CA, Gainesville (Tallahassee), FL, Sioux Falls, SD and a host of VA Hospitals while traveling across the country; Pat and Stacy Chedester and Scott and Angela Harvill of Sioux Falls, SD; Bryon Eiler, Shelia West and Janne Creecy of Havana, FL; Caregivers and HH Aides (special recognition to Gwen Jamerson, Ambria Vicks, and Rod Young); and contractors, Garcia Lawn Care and Landscaping (Ric and Mario Garcia, Yainel Gonzalez) of Tallahassee, FL.
