Helen Hoefert, 88 of Hartford, SD, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Dougherty Hospice House.
Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. John American Lutheran Church, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Helen Marie Harnack was born on April 16, 1936 to John and Ella Harnack in Moe Hospital Sioux Falls, SD.
Helen attended Foster County School for 8 years and graduated from Hartford High School in 1954.
Helen was united in marriage with Ernest Hoefert on October 21, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford.
Helen worked several jobs from being a stay-at-home mom to assembling hot air balloons at AreoStar until her retirement.
During retirement, Helen enjoyed fishing, square dancing, rummage sales, embroidering and reading. She especially enjoyed watching Kody in all of his sports activities and showing lambs. Helen traveled to Louisville Kentucky in 2024 to watch Kody show lambs at NAILE.
Helen looked forward to attending her grandchildren's activities and school concert. She attended their activities no matter what because there would be one day she would not be able to attend.
Grateful for having shared her life are Todd, Seymour, IN, Peggy (Corey) Kody (Avery), Hartford, Roy (Pam) Hoefert, Lennox, Kerry (Gail) Hartford, Tammy Bents, Des Moines; sister-in-law Barb Viet, (Sioux Falls), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by husband, Ernie Hoefert, many friends, nieces and nephews.
Helen's family especially thanks the nurses on 3E wing at Avera hospital and the nurses and staff at Doughtery House.
