James "Jim" Ward, 94, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at Dougherty House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Visitation will be held at Prince of Peace Chapel, Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community, Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 5-7 pm, with a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

James Gerard Ward was born February 16, 1930, in Chatfield, Minnesota, to William Patrick and Caroline (Williams) Ward.  After graduating high school and college, he began his career working for Kahler Corporation in Rochester, Minnesota from 1949-1954, Methodist Hospital in Rochester Minnesota from 1954-1966, and with Avera McKennan Hospital from 1966 to 1999.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Jim was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Chapel, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, South Dakota Hospital Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Stephen (Marilyn) Ward, Susan Fetter Ward, Carolyn Denton, Alicia Ward, Paula Gibson, and Twyla Przybilla; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; spouses, Ruth and Grace; son, Anthony; 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
