James William Zuber was born on January 14, 1935, to Otto and Helen (Postoff) Zuber in Chicago, Illinois. He was a U.S. veteran.
On April 18, 1960, James was united in marriage to Sherri Camille Zender in Alexandria, SD. The couple was blessed with their two children, Mike and Cathy. In 1964, they moved to Sioux Falls.
James and Sherri were members of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Tea, South Dakota. As a Founding Father, James often volunteered at the Food Pantry, Trinity Lutheran Church, 335 W. 1st., Tea, SD, for several years. James was also a member and held several offices at the SD Association for the Blind.
Family, pets, and anything mysterious were James' passions. He enjoyed old-time murder mysteries and spending time with the couple's various cats and dogs over the years. He took pride in being a member of Mensa.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Mike (Ricardo) Zuber of San Leandro, CA; daughter Cathy (Lance) Redfield of Matthews, NC; and grandsons Ryan and Jordan Redfield, both of Matthews, NC. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherri, his parents, all siblings, and many uncles and aunts.
