Janice "Jan" (Hauck) Schuver, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Avera Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD.
A celebration of life visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Thursday, October 17, at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Janice Kathryn Hauck, the daughter of Valentine and Mary (Kessler) Hauck, was born on September 22, 1937, in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up there and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.
She married John T. "Jack" Schuver Sr. on May 26, 1956, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen, SD. They had four children: John Jr. "Tom", Debra, Timothy, and Todd.
Following Jack's career, they lived in Vermillion, SD for nine years, then moved to Waterloo, IA for two years. In 1968, they settled in Sioux Falls, where they have lived since. Jan was a homemaker until her children were older, after which she worked as a teacher's aide and at Minnehaha County Department of Equalization, Planning, and Zoning for 19 years until her retirement in 1995.
After retiring, Jack and Jan spent 15 winters in Arizona before returning to Sioux Falls to be with their children and grandchildren. Jan was resourceful, open-minded, and creative. She enjoyed walking, reading, golf, decorating, playing cards/games, and crafts.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Debra (Ivan Bialas) Schuver, Tim (Shelley) Schuver, and Todd (Terri) Schuver; one brother, Jerry Hauck; one sister, JoAnn Edison; Brother-in-law, Terry Slattery; grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Hollingshead, Sam Fernandez, John (Abbie Hitzemann) Schuver, Megan (Trent) Van Holland, Jack (Emily) Schuver, and Brady Schuver; great-grandchildren, Riley Hollingshead, Marin Hollingshead, Brooks Van Holland, Graham Van Holland and Autumn Van Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John "Jack" Schuver Sr.; a son, John "Tom" T. Schuver; four siblings; and five step-siblings.
