Janice Pierson, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away November 27, 2024, at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, with family by her side.  She was 91.

Janice Nepstad Pierson was born March 12, 1933, in Evanston IL, to Axel and Dorothy Nepstad. They moved to Mitchell, SD, where she graduated from high school in 1951. She attended the University of South Dakota, graduating in May of 1955, with her Bachelor's Degree in Education. While attending college, she was a Kappa Alpha Theta sorority member.

Janice taught for many years, retiring from Harrisburg Schools.

On August 20, 1955, Janice married her high school sweetheart, John Pierson. Janice and John were loving parents to their three children.

Janice was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, and a 70-year member of PEO. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge with many groups of friends. Golfing was also an activity she enjoyed playing with John and the ladies day golf group in Brandon.

She attended countless sporting events while supporting John during his coaching career as well as watching her children and grandchildren in their various sporting events.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Don Pierson (Shelly), Sioux Falls, SD, Steve Pierson, Longmont, CO, daughter, Susan Pierson, Sioux Falls, SD; 3 grandchildren, Chey Persson, Denver, CO, Tyler Pierson (Holly Glatt), Rapid City, SD, Emilee (Levi) TeSlaa, Sioux Falls, SD; 4 great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Wyatt, Rylee, and Charlotte; and her sister, Deanne Robinson, of Lakewood Ranch, Fl. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; and brother, Don.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Ave, Sioux Falls SD 57104.
