Janine was born on January 2, 1962, in Sioux Falls to Virgil and Doris (Elverson) Koch. She grew up on a farm near Sherman, SD. Growing up on a farm, Janine developed a love for family and all animals, especially horses and dogs. Janine graduated with honors from Garretson High School in 1980. She attended South Dakota State University and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and a minor in Chemistry.

Armed with her degree, Janine used her knowledge as a Dietician to serve at Avera Hospital, the 26th & Sycamore Hy-Vee,  and Dakotabilities, where she held a special place in her heart for adults with disabilities. She also spent time at the USD School of Medicine doing research and, most recently, serving at the Santee Sioux Tribal Clinic in Flandreau, SD.

Janine married Daniel Albers on July 7, 1984, at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. The couple then settled in Sioux Falls to raise their family. Janine was a charter member of King of Glory Church in Sioux Falls. She was active in the church and served by teaching Sunday School, leading Corporate Prayer, leading and hosting community groups, and she was President of the Congregation. Janine was also active in praying with and for people at the Healing Rooms Ministries in Sioux Falls. She took part in the Center of Hope Ministries, where she helped to lead the worship service and give the message. Janine loved the Lord and showed it by being His hands and feet, and she would want God to get all the glory.

Grateful for sharing her life are her husband, Daniel Albers of Sioux Falls; son, Nicolas (Meaghan) Albers of Sioux Falls; daughter, Alise Albers (Chris Grisham) of Baltic; three grandchildren, Claire Marie Albers, Rosie Mae Albers, and Lauren James Grisham; brothers, Steven Koch of Brandon, Gregory Koch of Sioux Falls; sisters, Linda (Matt) DeBates of Brookings, Kristi (Ron) Krogstad of Baltic; mother-in-law, Mary Albers of Sioux Falls; sisters-in-law, Susan Albers of Sioux Falls, Cheryl (Rory) Adams of Rapid City; brother-in-law, Douglas Albers of Fort Meyers, FL; and numerous extended family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Janine was preceded in death by her son, Evan James Albers; parents, Virgil and Doris Koch; brother, Barton Wayne Koch; father-in-law, Arnold Albers; sisters-in-law, Lisa Albers, Jan Koch, and Carol Koch; and brother-in-law, Timothy Albers.

Dan, Nicolas, and Alise would like to thank all our King of Glory family and friends for all the meals, thoughts, and prayers provided while on this difficult path. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We could not have walked it alone. To God be the Glory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to King of Glory Church, where it will be used to support orphans, Children's Rescue International in Liberia, Transform Family Ministry, and the Sioux Falls Healing Rooms Ministry.
